Travel Penticton hires executive director

PENTICTON – The fledgling tourism organization Travel Penticton has announced the appointment of Thom Tischik as executive director.

Tischik brings decades of experience in tourism marketing and has held key positions with the Revelstoke Accommodations Association and the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce, according to a media release.

Former Penticton Hospitality Association president Barb Haynes, whose organization joined forces with Tourism Penticton earlier this year, said a call for applications was issued in September with 53 applicants. Those were shortlisted to a final four, with Tischik selected unanimously by the board from the final list of applicants.

Haynes said no one in the new organization was available to fill the position, which has been vacant since September.

“We’re super excited to have Thom join us. He’s a great collaborator,” Haynes said.

Tischik will officially assume his duties on Jan. 3, 2017 and Travel Penticton will be holding a reception in the New Year to introduce him.
