Penticton fighter headlines MMA fight on Friday

PENTICTON – Local mixed martial artist Clay Davidson fights with former Ultimate Fighter Kalib Axel Starnes as the main event for the Five Star Fight League Barefoot Beach Battle on Friday.

League owner and former amateur boxer Justin Donally said this will be the first time his league competes in Penticton and so far the reception has been good. "Everbody was super excited for us to come. We always focus on getting on with the locals and we got on board with radio stations and local charities."

He also said Penticton's Davidson is not the only local fighter. Middleweight Matt Baker from Kamloops will be slugging it out with Chase Degenhardt of Lethbridge, AB.

The fights take place outdoors at the Barefoot Beach Resort with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and the fights starting at 7 p.m. Onstage will be Five Star ring girl and fitness model Caitlyn Bellamy plus ring girl Paige Judd of Penticton, the winner of the Miss Bikini contest held on Aug. 4.

Tickets start at $40 and are available at Barefoot Beach House, Big Dukes Rental Hut, Fit City Supplements and the Best Damn Sports Bar.
