West Kelowna trailer a ‘total loss’ after early morning blaze
WEST KELOWNA – Not much is left of a Boucherie Road mobile home after a devastating fire early this morning.
There are no reported injuries and the residents were not at home when fire crews arrived, Darren Lee, Assistant Fire Chief says in a release.
Early this morning, firefighters responded to several emergency calls reporting mobile home fire in the 1800 block of Boucherie Road.
Lee says when fire crews arrived at approximately 12:20 a.m., they found heavy black smoke coming from the front of the trailer and flames venting from the windows.
"Heavy flames were venting from several windows near the rear of the home. The venting flames were a threat to nearby homes and out-buildings," Lee says.
Crews worked for several hours attacking the blaze, suppressing the fire and handling any hot spots.
The fire did not spread to other homes, but several buildings were damaged from the heat.
"The trailer took significant fire and smoke damage and is considered a total loss," Lee says.
The fire investigation has concluded the cause of the fire is undetermined, according to a media release issued Monday, Nov. 21.
