Highlights of Oct. 24 Kelowna city council meeting

Non-farm use on agricultural land

Council did not support a “Non-farm use” application within the Agricultural Land Reserve to hold commercial assembly activities (including but not limited to weddings, anniversaries, reunions, festivals and concerts) at 560 Highway 33 East. The application was not supported given the potential for noise, parking and traffic issues as well as the potential for impacting farm land.

Amendments to secondary suites

Council sent various zoning amendments regarding secondary suites and carriage houses to a Public Hearing on Nov. 15. The proposed zoning and business license amendments will help the City support and promote the development of legal secondary suites throughout Kelowna, especially since vacancy rates are so low.
