Silver Standard Resources posts 1st-quarter profit of $2.3 million

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Silver Standard Resources Inc. (SSRI) on Wednesday reported first-quarter earnings of $2.3 million.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 3 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 11 cents per share.

The precious metals mining company posted revenue of $101.5 million in the period.

Silver Standard Resources shares have risen 69 per cent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $8.77, a rise of 60 per cent in the last 12 months.
