Kelowna women sexually assaulted while they slept

KELOWNA – Police say two women were sexually assaulted by a man who entered their home in Glenmore while they slept yesterday.

Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says the man entered the unlocked home on Highland Drive shortly before 9 p.m. on Aug. 23 while two women were asleep in the same room. A release says the man “inappropriately touched” them.

“The women were awakened and initially overcome with shock as they confronted the stranger and demanded that he leave,” he says. “The suspect left the residence, while leaving he passed one of the women’s boyfriend who had just returned home with his friend. When the men learned what had transpired they ran from the residence in search of the suspect who was last seen running east along Highland Drive North.”

RCMP set up an area of containment and a Police Service Dog found the suspect nearby.

A 39-year-old Peachland man faces potential charges including, break and enter to commit an offence and sexual assault. He remains in custody.
