Senior launches pick-up off road and over a cliff

He’s extremely lucky he wasn’t more seriously injured.

A 65 year old Westside man drove his pick-up off Hodges Rd. in the Killiney Beach area, north of Fintry Provincial Park Saturday around 4:40 p.m.

But he is facing an impaired driving charge.

“He landed 15 to 20 feet down the embankment,” according to North Westside fire chief Wayne Carson. “I spoke to his wife this morning and he’s out of the hospital and at home.”

Carson says the fire fighters were able to get him out of his truck without the help of Search and Rescue’s High Angle Rescue team.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but not before a breathalyzer test.

“Members attended the crash and the subject was detained for impaired driving, “ said Cpl. Joe Leeson with the Vernon RCMP. “He was released and will appear in court in September.”
