Stolen front loader used to knock over Vernon ATM machine

VERNON – Police in the North Okanagan are investigating an unusual crime involving an ATM machine and a front end loader.

At roughly 2 a.m. Aug. 17, a large front end loader drove up to the exterior ATM of the Interior Credit Union in Vernon and knocked the machine over, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release.

The suspect then fled the scene and abandoned the loader in a parking lot on 41 Avenue. No access was ever gained to the ATM.

Officers determined the machine had been stolen from a business on Kalamalka Lake Road earlier that morning. It was only slightly damaged.

Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to call the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
