Victim of Rutland apartment fire victimized a second time
Talk about adding insult to injury. One of the people evacuated last weekend during an apartment fire in Rutland returned to find he’d been ripped off.
Kelowna RCMP say the man discovered his grandfather’s World War Two ring, a silver necklace and some chase was missing from his suite at The Bristol apartments on Franklyn Road.
The ring had his grandfather’s initials engraved on it.
The ring and other valuables must have gone missing sometime between July 13, the day of the fire, and July 19 when the man was allowed back into the building.
Police say no one else has reported having belongings stolen.
The building owner hired private security after the fire was determined to be accidental.
