West Kelowna fire fighters save occupant from early morning house fire

KELOWNA – Fire fighters acted fast to save an occupant with limited mobility from a house fire at Westview Village.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue were called at 4:00 a.m. today, Aug. 13, with a report of an occupant trapped inside a burning modular home, says Brent Watson, assistant fire chief.

Heavy smoke was reportedly billowing from back of the home when fire rescue arrived on scene.

Watson reports the occupant, who has limited mobility, was found quickly just inside the front door.

Once the occupant was out of the home, fire fighters battled the blaze aggressively. The fire was quickly extinguished.

While under investigation, the fire is not considered suspicious.

No pets or people were injured. The blaze is said to have caused about $50,000 in damage.
