BAT ASSAULT: New fundraiser organized for Kamloops teen and his family

KAMLOOPS – As the victim of a brutal baseball attack remains in a coma in Kamloops hospital, the community around Jessie Simpson continues to fundraise for his family.

According to a post on a GoFundMe webpage, the Vallue Village and Christina Forde are working together to create a donation program with funds going to Simpson’s family many of whom are commuting to Kamloops to visit Simpson or for attend court dates for the man accused of beating Simpson with a bat.

“If you have any unused items kicking around think of Jessie and this fundraiser,” Forde writes. “I know in my house I could probably fill a truck and I'm sure everyone else has a few unwanted unused things laying around.”

Once donations are collected Value Village will weigh it all and pay for it, with funds to be directed towards Simpson’s out-of-town family who come to Kamloops.

Dates and locations for donation drop offs are still being set up.
