Police report a number of motorbike thefts in Penticton

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP reported a number of “other” bike thefts last week – motorbike thefts, that is.

So far this year the spotlight has been on bicycle thefts, but last week numerous motorcycle thefts also took place in the city.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police responded to the following thefts between July 26 and Aug.1:

• The owner of a motorcycle stolen July 26 from a Paris Street address was able to account for the keys of the blue Honda Interceptor, licence plate number W2589.
• The theft of a 2007 KTM 250 dirt bike with an Alberta plate was reported from a McKenzie St. address on July 27, license number DVA 62. Witnesses observed three men loading the bike into a pickup at 4:30 a.m. that morning. Possible suspects have been identified and the incident continues to be investigated.
• On Thursday, July 28, a blue Suzuki DRZ 400 with license plate V25010, was reported stolen from a West Duncan Avenue residence. A cable lock on the bike had been cut.
• On Monday, Aug. 1, a 1993 grey, 90th anniversary Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was stolen from the casino parking lot. The bike had been parked close to the casino. Police are looking at video surveillance footage in attempt to identify the thief.
