Man arrested following taser incident

VERNON – An altercation involving a man with a taser at Lake City Casino led to an arrest last week in Vernon.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says officers were notified of a man with a weapon at the casino around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

“Our officers attend and learned there was a minor altercation with a couple people there. The suspect who was seen with the weapon left  the area before police arrived,” Molendyk said.

Witnesses said he might have gone to Kal Sports Bar. Police went to the bar and found the suspect’s vehicle parked in the area.

Minutes later, the 32-year-old suspect returned to the car where he was arrested for possession of a weapon. A taser was located on the ground next to a wheel of his vehicle.

The Vernon man has since been released on promise to appear.

Police do not believe the taser was used against anyone during the altercation at the casino.
