UPDATE: Power restored to 5,000 customers in Penticton

The power has been resorted to thousands of customers in Penticton.

The City of Penticton issued an alert this morning, Jan. 11, saying 5,000 of its customers have had been impacted.

The city says the outage was due to a loss of supply from FortisBC at the Westminster substation.

The outage occurred at around 10 a.m. and power was fully restored by 11:30 a.m.

The city has not yet determined if the cold weather was a factor.

The power has been restored at the community centre and the city says the pool will reopen at noon.
