Kelowna's landfill is on fire and there are reports the employees have been evacuated.
The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre has confirmed wildfire has spread to the landfill on Glenmore Road in the city's north end this afternoon, Aug. 18.
The landfill was closed to all non-commercial traffic earlier today as a result of the wildfires in the Clifton and McKinley Landing areas.
Videos posted to social media show huge flames engulfing trees around the landfill with plumes of smoke.
