Southern Interior under severe thunderstorm watch

Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton are all under severe thunderstorm watch.

Environment Canada issued an alert for the Okanagan, Nicola, South Thompson, Similkameen, Shuswap and Boundary.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the alert says.

“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

The government wants to remind the public that lightning is deadly.

“Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
