Woman groped in downtown Kelowna

Kelowna RCMP are investigating after a woman was groped by a stranger at around midnight in downtown Kelowna.

According to a Kelowna RCMP media release, two women were walking in the 1300 block of Richter Street near Wilson Avenue at around midnight Feb. 20 when the incident took place.

Police say the women were approached from behind by a man asking for directions to a downtown business. The women gave the man directions but told him the business would be closed.

The man then groped one of the women without warning.

RCMP say the women then yelled and fled the scene and the man didn't follow them.

Police say the suspect is described as of south Asian descent, approximately 5'6" tall with dark skin and an accent. He was wearing dark clothes at the time of the incident.

Kelowna RCMP are asking anyone who may have dashcam video or home video surveillance to  contact them at 250-762- 3300 and reference the file number 2023-9786.
