Woman injured, man arrested after West Kelowna shooting

WEST KELOWNA – A woman is in hospital being treated for a single gunshot wound after she was shot in a West Kelowna neighbourhood late last night, police say.

West Kelowna RCMP were called to the 700 block of Spland Road at 11:16 p.m. yesterday for a report of a shot fired inside the home. They found the 31-year-old woman conscious but she was rushed to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says.

A 28-year-old West Kelowna man was taken into police custody and remains in custody. The scene has been secured while police wait to obtain a search warrant.

"The West Kelowna RCMP General Investigations Section has assumed control of the ongoing investigation," O'Donaghey says. "RCMP can confirm that this was an isolated incident."
