Freezing rain hits Coquihalla and Connector

Despite warming temperatures, it is still not safe to travel the Connector and Coquihalla.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt and from Merritt to Kamloops. There's also a freezing rain warning for the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kamloops.

DriveBC said ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring in several locations including: South Thompson, Nicola, Similkameen, Fraser Canyon – north of Boston Bar, and the southwest interior mountain passes, particularly east of Allison Pass and north of Coquihalla Summit.

It said travel is not recommended unless essential.
