BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Mark Kastelic had a goal and an assist and Mads Sogaard made 35 saves in a 5-2 win for the Belleville Senators over the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League on Saturday.
Power-play goals in the second by Zac Leslie and Maxence Guenette – their first goals of the season – saw the Senators (6-8-0) take a 3-1 lead over their division rivals. Dillon Heatherington and Matthew Wedman added empty-net goals in the third.
Lukas Vejdemo and Laurent Dauphin, on the power play, scored for the Rocket (7-7-1). Kevin Poulin stopped 31-of-34 shots in defeat.
Kastelic put the Senators ahead 1-0 at 7:23 of the first before Vejdemo replied for the visitors at 10:31.
Dauphin cut the deficit to 3-2 at 19:26 of the second.
The Rocket narrowly outshot Belleville 37-36.
