Check wait times for Vernon walk-in clinics online

VERNON – Three local walk-in clinics are posting their wait times online thanks to a new B.C.-based website.

The website, medimap.ca, allows clinics to post estimated wait times online and is being used in a number of communities across the province, including in Kelowna.

Three Vernon walk-ins are listed on the site, including the Sterling Centre Clinic, the North Okanagan Medical Clinic and the Gartree Medical Clinic. Along with the estimated wait times, medimap.ca also provides clinic hours, location and general contact information.

The site was created by a pair of Vancouver men who wanted to reduce hassle for both patients and clinic staff.

“We understand how frustrating it can be to travel to a walk-in clinic only to find that they are no longer accepting patients for the day. Calling various clinics in the area is a waste of time for both you and the clinic staff,” states a write-up on the website.

Wait times are updated frequently, but patients are warned they are estimates only and can change quickly.

It is free for clinics to register on the site.
