Fire outside Vernon business believed to have been deliberately set

VERNON – A small fire outside a downtown Vernon business is being treated as suspicious.

The Vernon Fire Department was called to the Libra Love Boutique on Coldstream Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 29.

Deputy Fire Chief Jack Blair says the fire was only about six inches by six inches in size and caused no significant damage.

Material found at the scene suggested someone intentionally started the fire, leading firefighters to notify the RCMP.

“It appears to be incendiary, like it was a set fire,” Blair says.

The Vernon RCMP is investigating.
