Shots ring out in Rutland

UPDATE: Residents thought they heard firecrackers

Early this morning a woman living on Hein Road in Rutland awoke to what she thought was firecrackers going off.

"I heard the bang and came out… I thought it was a firecracker," she says.

She says it woke her around 4 a.m. When she emerged from her residence there was no sign of where the shots came from. Two bullets were fired at her car parked in the front driveway, hitting one of the backlights and the fender.

Another two were fired into the window of the basement suite.

"It was supposed to be a bedroom," she said, but it wasn't being used by anyone at the time. The woman says she's lived in Kelowna for 41 years and has been living on Hein Road for the past two years with her 25-year-old daughter.

A neighbor at the adjacent apartment says she heard one loud shot and four small ones.

No one was harmed by the shooting, but RCMP are still on scene and continue to investigate.

KELOWNA – No one was hurt after shots were fired a home in Rutland early Saturday morning.

Kelowna RCMP say officers responded to a report of shots being fired at 10:15 a.m.

The bullets hit a house and a parked car in the 400 block of Hein Road.

People were home at the time, but no one was in the parked car.
