Report of gunshot in Kamloops turns out to be fireworks

KAMLOOPS – Setting off a firework on your front porch is not the smartest move when people in the home are either wanted on a warrant or have meth on them.

RCMP say they were called at 11:45 a.m. today, April 29, to a report of a gunshot at a home in the 900 block of 13 Street in Kamloops.

The house is well known to police so officers responded in force, according to a RCMP media release.

Turns out it wasn’t a gunshot. A firework had been set off from the porch of the house, police say.

One of the eight people in the house, only some of whom were tenants, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for breach of probation and is being held in custody for a court appearance.

RCMP seized methamphetamine from a second person but aren’t saying if an arrest was made. Police will only say “the investigation into the drug possession is continuing.”
