AUGUSTA, Maine – Winter might technically be over, but Maine tourism officials say the state’s season for winter recreational activities will continue at least into next month.
Thursday’s the first full day of spring. The Maine Office of Tourism says conditions are still ideal for skiers and snowmobilers in the state, and they will stay that way into April. The office says more than half the state still has more than two feet of snow.
The state has little snow along the coast, but northern parts of Maine such as Aroostook County are still covered in snow. The office says below-average temperatures are expected next week, and that bodes well for fans of winter sports.
The office says skiing areas are still reporting strong attendance for packages to learn to ski and snowboard.
