Coroner says Boonstock death caused by overdose

PENTICTON – The cause of death of the woman who died at the first and only Boonstock Music Festival in Penticton two years ago has been determined.

B.C. Coroners Service released the report investigating the death of Lynn Lorraine Tolocka at the Boonstock Festival on Aug. 2, 2014.

The 23-year-old female died of toxic results of ingesting alcohol and methamphetamines, the coroner’s office reported, calling it an accidental overdose.

B.C. Ambulance personnel attended the first aid tent of the Boonstock Music Festival on Aug. 1, 2014 at approximately 10:50 p.m. to find Tolocka in medical distress. She was treated on scene and transferred to

Penticton Regional Hospital, but went into cardiac arrest enroute to hospital. Resuscitation efforts were undertaken but efforts to revive the woman ultimately failed.

Investigation showed the Leduc, Alberta woman had attended the festival with friends and was celebrating her upcoming birthday. She told friends she had brought MDMA (Ecstasy) and was going to take it as part of the weekend celebration. She was also seen in an intoxicated state earlier in the evening of Aug. 1 before she was found on the ground having seizures around 10:30 p.m.

Friends told the treating physician she had taken ecstasy and had been drinking.
