CALGARY – WestJet Airlines Ltd. has named a former JetBlue executive as chief operating officer.
The Calgary-based airline says Jeff Martin will join the company on Sept. 24, subject to Canadian immigration approval.
He will report to WestJet chief executive Ed Sims, who took over the top job at the airline in March.
Sims says Martin’s international experience will help ensure WestJet’s continued success.
Martin was executive vice-president of operations at JetBlue where he was responsible for technical operations, system operations, safety, security, flight operations, training and regulatory compliance.
He is also a pilot and civilian flight instructor and is captain qualified on the DC-10, Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft.
