Guns, thefts and fire keep Chase RCMP busy

CHASE – Firearms violations and thefts kept Chase RCMP busy over the past two weeks.

A home on Brooke Drive was broken into while the resident was away for a few weeks, Chase RCMP say in a release. Jewelry was confirmed stolen when the owner returned home and reported the theft on March 29.

Another theft occurred on March 29, when a resident on Willow Street saw a man trying to get into her truck. The male, dressed in a dark hoody, got away with an iPod.

Firearms were seized and a 33-year-old man charged March 28. Joshua Timothy Reese is facing several gun-related charges, including possession of firearms while prohibited.

A fire behind the Safety Mart at 305 Brooke Dr. on March 22 is also being investigated. Chase Fire Department attended and kept the fire contained to a couple pallets of compressed cardboard.

A 2001 Dodge commercial truck was reported stolen from a residence on Pine Street at 3:30 a.m., March 19. The truck was spotted being followed by a red Dodge pick-up and headed towards Kamloops. It was located three days later. Forensic investigators examined the truck and the investigation is on going.
