Philadelphia airport opens new pet relief area
Philadelphia International Airport has opened a permanent animal relief area for travellers with pets.
Philly.com reports the airport announced the facility Thursday. The 90-square-foot relief area located near Gate D3 includes a basin, waste bags, waste receptacles and a hand washing station.
A U.S. Department of Transportation requires larger airports to install animal relief areas. Philadelphia International Airport had maintained temporary stations for service animals and pets since 2016.
Airport COO Keith Brune said in a statement the relief area is “intended to be helpful and provide a less stressful airport experience for travellers.”
Other permanent relief areas are planned for Terminals E, A-West, B and C.
