WASHINGTON – Authorities say police in Washington shot and killed a man who produced a handgun in an alley.
Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham tells news outlets that three officers on routine patrol in southeast Washington encountered a group of men Tuesday night. Newsham says multiple shots were fired after the man pulled out the gun, but it’s unclear if the suspect fired his weapon. It’s unclear how many of the officers fired their weapons.
None of the officers were injured. Newsham says no one is in custody and police are not looking for any suspects. He says multiple witnesses are co-operating with police, who are gathering evidence.
The deceased man has not been identified.
