Elderly Vernon man victimized in home invasion

VERNON – Police have two men in custody after an elderly Vernon man was tied up and robbed during a home invasion on the weekend.

RCMP were called to a home in Vernon’s Bella Vista neighbourhood around 4:45 p.m., Saturday, March 19, by an 83-year-old man who said he had been robbed.

Two men entered the man’s home, tied him to a chair, stole numerous items and fled in a Winnebago, according to a media release.

Police say the man wasn’t hurt.

Officer tracked down the suspect vehicle a little while later and when they tried to pull it over, two men tried to take off on foot.

They were caught and arrested.

A 46-year-old man and a 50-year-old man remain in custody awaiting a court appearance.

RCMP continue to investigate.
