Vote, vote vote: Lumby makes final push for Hockeyville 2016

LUMBY – It’s a voting frenzy as the clock ticks away on the final hours of Lumby’s goal to be named Hockeyville 2016.

Voting closes at 9 p.m. Monday, March 14, and promoters are hoping to squeeze in as many votes as possible over the course of the day.

Already in the top 10, Lumby is in the running for $100,000 and the honour of hosting an NHL pre-season game.

You can vote as many times as you want — the more the better.

Lumby residents say their ice facility, the Pat Duke Memorial Arena, could greatly use the cash infusion. Inadequate change rooms, rotting walls, leaks, and a broken score clock are just some of the issues with the building, which they fear could be condemned if it doesn’t find a lifeline.
