OTTAWA – The Ottawa Redblacks hired Winston October as their receivers coach Monday.
October joins the Redblacks after serving as the receivers coach at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
October was a receiver/defensive back in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes (1999-2000) and Edmonton (2001-2004) while also seeing time with the NFL’s Washington Redskins (2001). He helped the Eskimos win a Grey Cup in 2003.
“Winston is an experienced player and coach and we’re happy he chose to join the Redblacks,” Ottawa head coach Rick Campbell said in a statement. “We’re excited to add a coach of Winston’s calibre and I know the entire coaching staff is looking forward to working with him.”
