Eagles seek patio addition to liquor license in Penticton

PENTICTON – The Fraternal Order of Eagles would like to be able to serve liquor on the outside patio at the hall on Main Street in Penticton.

The non-profit chartiable group has applied to the city and the public notification process is about to begin.

The request for liquor service on the patio would give the Eagles room for 24 more patrons.

The application is also under review by the province's Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.

City staff will be seeking comments from adjacent property, business owners and occupants in a 90 metre consultation radius to ensure local residential properties to the east of the patio are notified about the plan.

Building and permitting manager Ken Kunka notes in his report to council records indicate a number of complaints regarding noise generated on the smoking patio from adjacent property owners in the past. A higher fence was built that has since mitigated some of the noise concerns, but the applicants will be expected to monitor the area.

The results of public notification process are scheduled for presentation at the April 4 meeting of council.
