Crown withdraws charge against man, 20, in dangerous pass on Alberta highway

RED DEER, Alta. – A 20-year-old Calgary man is no longer facing a charge of dangerous driving.

Kunal Anand was charged on April 10 after a video was recorded on a dash cam showing a speeding car squeezing between two other vehicles on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway near Bowden.

The car also passed another vehicle on the highway’s shoulder before speeding away.

The video quickly went viral after it was posted online.

Anand pleaded not guilty and was scheduled to go on trial Thursday in a court in Red Deer.

But the Crown said after speaking to witnesses, there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction as no one would be able to positively identify who was driving, so the charge was withdrawn.
