NBA to announce award winners in new post-season awards show

NEW YORK – The NBA will announce the winner of the MVP and its other major awards during a new post-season awards show.

The league said Tuesday that the NBA Awards Show will be held June 26 in New York and televised on TNT.

Award winners are traditionally announced separately throughout the post-season, but this marks the first time that all recipients will be honoured on the same night. The program will feature current and former NBA players, coaches and executives, and celebrities.

The Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Sixth Man Award, Most Improved Player and Coach of the Year will be announced during the show.

Other details, including venue, host and list of presenters, will be announced at a later date.
