Man in custody after 6 injured in stabbing, 2 critically

PASADENA, Calif. – A 21-year-old man stabbed six people at a Southern California house party early Saturday, striking after a fight broke out when he bumped into someone, authorities said.

Two people were critically injured and four others hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

Responding officers found Aaron Hong Te shortly after 3 a.m. in front of the residence where the party was taking place in Pasadena, about 10 miles (16 kilometres) northeast of downtown Los Angeles. About 200 people were at the party.

Te was taken into custody and faces charges of attempted murder, authorities said. It was unclear whether he had obtained an attorney. A working phone number for Te or his family could not be immediately located.

Investigators said Te had bumped into someone at the party and that a fight quickly erupted.

“It sounds like he just started stabbing people around him,” Pasadena Police Department Lt. John Mercado said.

The victims were all men ranging in age from 21 to 25.
