Armed robber nabbed by RCMP in Vernon after three holdups

VERNON – RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with three robberies in Vernon this week.

Two convenience stores and a liquor store were robbed on Thursday, Jan. 28.

RCMP says at about 2:06 a.m. the 7-Eleven on 39 Avenue was held up by a lone man with a knife. He demanded the employees open the cash register and got away on foot with some cash.

A couple hours later at about 4:11 a.m., a man walked into the Mac’s on 27 Street, threatening the employee and demanding she open the cash register, police say in a media release. He took off with some cash.

That evening around 8:40 p.m., the cashier at the Village Green Liquor Store on 24 Street was held up by a man with a knife. Again the suspect threatened the employee, demanded cash from the register and got away with some cash.

“A male was arrested a short time later by police as a result of a review of surveillance video and forensic evidence,” Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in the release.

Jeremiah Miller, 42, of Vernon has been charged with three counts of robbery. He appeared in Vernon provincial court on Friday and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Feb. 10.

Vernon RCMP are still gathering evidence in the case.
