Court date put over for Calgary man charged with murders of mother, girl
CALGARY – A Calgary man charged in the deaths of a woman and her five-year-old daughter has had his court appearance put over.
Edward Downey, who faces two counts of first-degree murder, did not appear in the courtroom.
His case was adjourned until Aug. 24, as the defence is waiting for disclosure of evidence.
Sara Baillie, 34, was discovered dead in her northwest Calgary home on July 11.
Her daughter, Taliyah Marsman, could not be found and police issued an Amber Alert.
The girl’s body was found a few days later in a rural area east of the city.
