Image of Asia: Planting rice seedlings in Cambodian fields
In this photo by Heng Sinith, farmers plant rice seedlings at a farm in Samroang village, on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Cambodian farmers typically start to grow rice during the rainy season, which lasts from June to October. Planting was delayed this season because of a severe drought in Cambodia and its Southeast Asian neighbours, Thailand and Vietnam, which are among the world’s biggest rice exporters.
