Aimia signs Japan’s Aeon Retail, sees partnership as base for Asia-Pacific growth

MONTREAL – The Montreal-based company that runs Aeroplan and other customer loyalty programs has landed a new partnership in the Asia-Pacific region.

Aimia Inc. (TSX:AIM) says it has signed a multi-year contract with Aeon Retail, the core retail subsidiary of Aeon, Japan’s largest retailer group.

Financial terms weren’t released.

Aimia has grown into a global company providing consumer data and analytical services through a number of loyalty-point programs.

It began as an Air Canada business unit operating the Aeroplan frequent flyer reward program and currently operates as an independent company operating similar programs in several countries for various types of merchants.
