PHILADELPHIA – The final preparations are underway in Philadelphia as the city gets ready to host the Democratic National Convention.

More than 5,000 delegates are among the 50,000 people expected to attend the gathering that starts Monday.

Officials are banning large trucks and other vehicles from nearby stretches of Interstate 95 and other highways leading in and out of Philadelphia.

Protest groups are getting ready this weekend for events scheduled throughout the week.

Clean energy supporters are working in the city’s Kensington neighbourhood Saturday on artwork for a planned demonstration Sunday.

Anti-abortion activists who oppose Democrat Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid are meanwhile marching in West Philadelphia.

Clinton is set to be named the party’s official nominee during the four-day convention. She has named Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate.
