Mexico finds cocaine in chili sauce shipment

MEXICO CITY – Mexico’s Navy says it has seized 217 plastic barrels filled with chili sauce that surrounded packages of cocaine in a shipping container that arrived from Ecuador.

The Navy said in a statement Wednesday that the barrels were discovered in the western port of Manzanillo. Photographs provided by the Navy show blue plastic barrels each weighing about 130 pounds (60 kilograms) filled with a red chili sauce.

They inspected the containers based on intelligence and found packages of cocaine inside.

The shipment’s destination was Mazatlan in Sinaloa state.
