Boxing promoter GYM signs deal to stage fights at Videotron Centre

MONTREAL – Boxing promoter Groupe Yvon Michel signed a three-year deal Friday to stage fight cards at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

The first event is to be Adonis Stevenson of Montreal’s seventh defence of his World Boxing Council light heavyweight title against Thomas Williams on July 29.

The deal includes major bouts from the Premier Boxing Champions series, which are broadcast on U.S. television.

Montreal-based GYM said in a statement the deal with sports management company Gestev completes its affiliation with the French-language channel TVA Sports and media company Videotron.

GYM’s stable of fighters includes ranked light heavyweights Artur Beterbiev and Eleider Alvarez, rising welterweight Custio Clayton and women’s boxing prospect Marie-Eve Dicaire.
