After 18 years on ‘Canada AM,’ veteran anchor Jeff Hutcheson announces retirement

TORONTO – “Canada AM” anchor Jeff Hutcheson will soon have his mornings free as he prepares to sign off from the long-running news program.

The veteran sports and weather anchor announced on-air Friday that he will bring his 18-year career on the show to a close this summer.

Hutcheson has broadcast from nearly 400 locations across Canada and around the world for the show.

Beginning on May 11, he will hit the road for one last remote broadcast tour before his final stint at the “Canada AM” desk.

Hutcheson began his career in 1976 at CKCO-TV in Kitchener, Ont., now known as CTV Kitchener.

After working at the station for two decades, Hutcheson started working part-time for “Canada AM” in 1992 before becoming a permanent fixture on the show in August 1998.
