Lots of Penticton break-ins over the holidays

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP responded to a series of home break-ins over the holidays.

RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police received a call from a Yorkton Avenue resident on Dec. 25 who was complaining of thefts of alcohol from an outdoor refrigerator.

The resident told police he had also filled a wine bottle with urine and stored it in the refrigerator for “safekeeping", but it too, was stolen the following night, Wrigglesworth says.

A home on McGraw Street was burgled while the resident was away over the holidays. Jewellery, coins, hockey sticks and autographed jerseys were stolen. A police investigation recovered most of the items, except the jewellery, he says.

A residence on Forestbrook Place fell prey to burglary, which was reported on Dec. 30. The owner of the residence had been away since Dec. 10. Wine and jewellery was stolen.

Overnight Dec. 31, an audible alarm sounded at a residence on Sudbury Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. A neighbour who had been looking after the home while the owners were away reported the alarm.

Police attended, finding a door open and a shattered glass window. The police investigation, which included the services of a police dog, continues.
