Okanagan ski hill recognized by Vogue

KELOWNA – It’s no secret to locals that Big White is a world class resort, but according to Vogue.com it’s an undiscovered gem for many around the world.

The fashion website lists Big White Resort as the fifth of five 'under the radar Canadian ski resorts that aren’t Whistler'.

On Dec. 22 article Big White is described as Whistler's smaller, less popular sister.

“This resort has all you’d want for a girlfriend or family getaway — without the crowds. Cute cafés? Check. Car-free village? Check. Perfectly groomed trails? Check. But you’re here for the snow, and it gets plenty of that (some 25 feet per year) across its 118 designated trails, which are ideal for beginner or intermediate skiers and riders,” writer Celeste Moure says.

Revelstoke took first place, followed by Sunshine Village, Mont-Tremblant and Jasper.

“You’ve probably heard of Whistler and Lake Louise, but if you’re looking to try someplace new, less expensive, and — dare we say it — friendlier, you have to go where the locals go,” Moure writes. “These are the little towns with vibrant ski scenes, where the people are genuinely charming and, thanks to the low Canadian dollar, prices won’t break the bank. Sure, you’ll travel a little farther afield, but the reward is great skiing and snowboarding on epic powder.”
