Rude awakening for truck theft victim

KAMLOOPS – This probably doesn't happen very often.

At around 1 a.m. on Monday, the Kamloops RCMP received a call from a man saying his truck and the trailer attached to it was stolen.

It sounds routine until you realize the man was calling from inside the trailer. According to RCMP spokesperson Const. Cheryl Bush, he was sleeping when the thief struck.

"The male caller indicated that they had departed an Aberdeen Area hotel, but was uncertain where they were headed," she said.

The man gave police a description of his truck and trailer. He eventually told them about a landmark they were driving by and that gave the RCMP a location.

The stolen truck and trailer were found in the Sun Rivers area. The suspect got away.

The investigation is ongoing and RCMP are asking for anyone with information on this incident to call Kamloops Detachment at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
