Horseback riding head injury
VERNON – Vernon Search and Rescue volunteers sprung into action Saturday afternoon to rescue a man who smacked his head while he was horseback riding.
He was riding with friends in the Cousens Bay area on Kalamalka Lake.
Leigh Pearson, the Search Manager, says the team went into the area by water and on ATV's.
Because the man had suffered a head injury, they decided to get him to the waiting ambulance at the Kinlock Drive boat launch by water. They figures it would be a much smoother ride and the patient's injuries wouldn't be aggravated.
He was then taken to the hospital.
Pearson says the man, believed to be in his 50s, hit his head, "He smacked his head pretty good. I don't know the exact nature or extent of his injuries."
