Driver crashes into store in West Kelowna

WEST KELOWNA – Firefighters had to extract a man from his car after he drove through the front window at the Bulk Barn in West Kelowna this afternoon.

The 78-year-old man wasn't seriously hurt, but the front window of the store at 3610 Carrington Rd. and some merchandise was badly damaged, according to a media release from West Kelowna Fire Rescue.

“It appears that he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal,” Const. Kent Hall told Global Okanagan. “When he felt the vehicle move forward, he panicked and pressed the accelerator even farther.”
